Testosterone levels are lower in obese men


Studies have shown that levels of the male hormone testosterone decline in men as body-mass-index goes up. It’s theorized that excess fat makes testosterone convert into estrogen, so obese men have higher-than-normal estrogen levels. These hormonal changes are harmful for the production of sperm. And sperm counts do appear to be lower in obese men than in men who are at a healthy weight.
